“The Birinus Boys”
The Weightlifting club at St Birinus Boys School was established over 25 years ago and has produced over 15 international lifters and many more GB athletes.
The club has competed in many competitions across the world from Denmark to North Africa. St Birinus is the host of the weightlifting star Ben Watson.
He competed in the Commonwealth 2014 games in Glasgow where he won the snatch and came 3rd overall.
St Birinus is an active club in the UK Lifting League and has won it for the past 3 years running.
